Ng Rui Jun started taking erhu lessons from Miss Wang Jing in 2007. In 2009 he continued his studies under the tutelage of Miss Shen Qin, and obtained a Grade 8 Certificate of Distinction in the graded examination conducted by the Central Conservatory of Music in the same year. The following year, he obtained a Grade 9 Certificate of Distinction. He has also learnt the jinghu from SCO concertmaster Mr Li Bao Shun.

 

An active leader in the orchestras he has participated in, Rui Jun was the Chairman and Erhu I Principal of the Raffles Institution (Year 1 - 4) Chinese Orchestra (RICO) in 2010. In 2012 he took on the role of Huqin Sectional Leader in its Year 5 - 6 counterpart. After joining the Raffles Alumni Chinese Orchestra (RACO) in 2010, he served in the capacity of Huqin Sectional Leader in 2014. Taking up the role of Chairperson of the Ding Yi Youth Ensemble since 2015, Rui Jun now serves as the President of the Singapore Management University Chinese Orchestra as well.
